1. HARRY15 OVEREND (HARRY BENJAMIN14, GEORGE13, NATHAN12, HENRY11, ROBERT10, ROBERT9, ISAAC8, JOHN7, JOHN6, ISAAC5, RICHARD4, WILLIAM3, RICHARD2, WILLIAM1) was born 27 April, 1948 in Thornhill, Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. He married ELIZABETH ANNE DUNDERDALE 19 April, 1969 in Mirfield, West Yorkshire, daughter of JOSEPH DUNDERDALE and BETTY JACKSON.


Harry Overend attended the following schools:

His fist job was as a Motor Mechanic at John Fewsters Garage in Willans Road, Dewsbury. He then left to become a Fireman with the Dewsbury County Borough Fire Brigade on Huddersfield Road, Scout Hill, Dewsbury.

He served as a Fireman for five years when, in April of 1974 he was promoted to the rank of Leading Firefighter and transferred to Huddersfield Fire Station.

After serving as Temporary Sub Officer at Skelmanthorpe Fire Station, he was transferred and promoted to Elland Fire Station in the rank of Sub Officer, as Watch Officer.

In 1981, he was promoted to the rank of Station Officer at Cleckheaton Fire Station were he stayed for eight and a half years.

In 1989 he was given the appointment of Station Commander at Morley Fire Station, where he remained until 1991 when he was again promoted to the Rank of Assistant Divisional Officer and appointed as the Station Commander of Gipton Fire Station in Leeds.

Gipton Station was the busiest fire station in Britain during his command, attending in excess of 5500 incidents in a year. In 1996, after five years at Gipton, he transferred to the Operations Department at Fire Service Headquarters at Birkenshaw.

His many interests include, Water Colour Painting, Walking, Golf, Gardening, Internet Communications and Touring in the car, but his main interest is spending time on holiday at his Villa Apartment at Miraflores in Andalucia, Spain.
